BRIEF

The Penlet

The Penlet allows you to travel around with your pen wherever you go. This project was a fun project that got me to think outside of the box.

IDEATION

100 Ideas

I brainstormed 100 ideas about anything that related to pens. I had some ideas such as 'The XYZ Pen', 'Movement Pen', 'Camera Pen', and many more. I decided to do the 'Bracelet Pen', a bracelet that holds your pen.

PROCESS

First Prototype

I started prototyping the bracelet pen in Rhino and 3D printed it. It turned out a bit small, but was a good size for kids. When I tried out the bracelet, it was a bit awkward because the pen was either sticking out from the hand or lying inside the sleeve.

ITERATION

Second Prototype

During the iteration of the second design, I enhanced the bracelet's size, altered the positioning of the pen within the bracelet, and incorporated spaces for magnets to ensure the pen's stability inside the bracelet.

PROCESS

Finishing

After printing out the bracelet, I sanded it and spray-painted it in a silver metallic colour. I also added small magnets to the bracelet and to the pen. This allowed the pen to stick to the bracelet.

BRANDING

Creating a Brand

I started making a logo — I wanted it to be fun and playful, and I also wanted to add a pen to it. I'm very happy with the outcome.

MOCKUPS

Brand Mockups

I wanted to make the logo represent the Penlet a bit more so I added the shape around the logo and made the pen longer. I tried mocking up the Penlet with 3 brands: Macy's, AT&T, and TikTok.

REFLECTION

What I Learned

I learned a lot doing this project. I got a bit of practice in prototyping and I learned how to create logos and how to create mockups.
